# Match your resume to a job post

## What this does (read this first)

You found a job on Indeed. This prompt has AI read the job post and your resume
side by side, then rewrite your resume bullets so they speak the employer's
language. It also lists the exact keywords the job post repeats, so the
computer that reads applications first (the "ATS") can find them in yours.

Think of it like a translator. Your experience stays the same. The wording
changes so the person hiring can see the match.

## How to use it

1. Open the job post on Indeed. Copy the whole description.
2. Copy your resume (plain text is fine).
3. Paste the prompt below into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini, then paste the
   job post and your resume where it says to.
4. Read every line of what comes back. If AI wrote something you have not
   done, delete it. A resume that exaggerates will find out at the
   interview.

   and lead each bullet with an action verb. Do not invent skills, titles,
   dates, or numbers.
4. Write a 3-sentence summary for the top of the resume that names the role
   and my two strongest matches.

After all four, list anything you rewrote where I should double-check the
facts before sending.

## Watch out for

- **Leave personal details out.** No phone number, address or anything like
  a Social Security number in what you paste. The employer gets those from
  the application form, not from a chatbot.

- **Never let it add experience you do not have.** It will try to be helpful
  and smooth things over. You are the fact-checker.
- **One resume per job.** Sending the same resume everywhere is why most
  applications vanish. Ten minutes per application with this prompt beats a
  hundred identical sends.
- **Keep a plain version.** Some application forms mangle fancy formatting.
  Save one copy as simple text.
