Every new field brings its vocabulary, and the quickest way to feel excluded is not understanding six words people toss around. Here they are, in kitchen English. A prompt is whatever you say to the machine. Your question, your request. There is nothing technical about it, despite the people who say prompt like it is a spell. A model is the particular machine you are talking to. ChatGPT is a product, the model inside it this year is called Luna on the free tier, and models get replaced the way engines do, same car, new engine. A token is a piece of a word, roughly four characters, and the only reason you care is that limits are sometimes described in tokens. It is bookkeeping. A hallucination is when the machine states something untrue with total confidence, and it is the single most important word on this list. Multimodal means the machine handles more than typing, photos in, voice out, show it the leak under the sink. An agent, the word of the year, is a machine that does a task instead of answering a question, and you will hear it constantly because every company is building them. Context is the machine's memory of the current conversation, which resets when you start a new chat, so the standing advice is to keep one topic per conversation and start fresh for the next. Training data is everything the machine read before it met you. That is the entire dictionary you need for a year of headlines and a class or two. Six words and a little practice, and the exclusion is over.

Text, images, music, voice, video, and code are all generative now. Results can be striking, free versions carry limits, and the best outputs still need a human editor.
The clear trend is from chatbots that answer to assistants that do: book, file, buy, and follow up on your behalf. Trust in them will grow slowly, and honestly, it should.
Predictions vary wildly, and honest ones admit the uncertainty. The pattern so far: AI absorbs tasks before whole jobs, and the people who learn the tools tend to do the absorbing.
